Policies

Apple Warrantied Repairs:

1. Tech Smiths, as an Apple Authorized Service Provider, is an independent service provider contracted and authorized (AASP #: 677806) by Apple to perform warrantied hardware only repairs on Apple laptops and desktop computers.

2. For software (applications, OS, configurations, etc), operational, hardware setup & configuration, environmental and training issues, our standard rates will apply.

3. Tech Smiths does not provide warranty phone support. Please call your areaʼs Apple customer support listed here: http://www.apple.com/support/contact/phone_contacts.html

4. As per Apple requirements, parts replaced must be returned to Apple within 2 business days. No exception.

5. Tech Smiths currently does not service iPods, iPhones or iPads.

Non Warrantied Repairs:

1. Tech Smiths charges a $50 diagnostic fee for assessing most computer problems. If the customer decides to go forward with the repair, that fee will be credited toward the total labor charge of the repair.

Privacy:

1. Tech Smiths does not share or sell email or any other personal information about you and/or your business collected during our transactions. All information collected is used for billing purposes and to contact you regarding the status of your repair, services, etc.

2. Only by your explicit permission will Tech Smiths use your email to contact you regarding upcoming sales, promotions, seminars, demonstrations and general updates.

Data Storage/Backup/Restore:

1. Tech Smiths is not responsible for customerʼs data.

2. Tech Smiths assumes that the customer has recent and valid backups.

3. Tech Smiths will backup data upon request at our normal bench rate.

4. Tech Smiths is not responsible for backup or restoration of unrecoverable data.

5. Tech Smiths is not responsible for long term storage of data.

6. Tech Smiths assumes that the customer has a licensed OS system and program disks if needed.

Miscellaneous:

1. Tech Smiths reserves the right to refuse service for any reason.

2. Tech Smiths cannot keep items longer than 2 weeks unless by explicit arrangement.

3. For items left longer than 2 weeks without this arrangement Tech Smiths will:

  • assess a storage fee of $20.00 after 3 contact attempts.
  • after 3 months of inaction, assume possession of the item.

4. Unless otherwise instructed, please take carrying cases, boxes and unnecessary items with you.
