Alan and Brian Macaluso – Owners

Brian Macaluso

Brian is an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician and an experienced Windows and Linux system administrator, security and network engineer. He also has 25 years of digital and analog electronics engineering experience.

With these combined skills, Brian has been responsible for developing, deploying and managing complex networking, security. storage and disaster recovery solutions for organizations such as Reuters Health Information , The Village of New Paltz and numerous NYC metro-area law firms as well as creating and maintaining sophisticated audio engineering and broadcasting environments for organization such as WNYC Radio , Electric Lady Studios , Postworks Video Productions.

Brian has a deep interest and varied experience in electronics engineering. Early on in his career he was employed at MCA Electronics/Peretta Graphics where he was instrumental in the development and deployment sophisticated computerized electro-mechanical color control systems for the offset printing industry . However, his passion for music and audio electronics led him to professional audio electronics.

Brian is a graduate in electronics engineering technology at DeVry Technical College , graduating Valedictorian of his class. He also has advanced training in Windows System Administration plus internet/intranet security planning and management. Brian is an avid musician, sound designer, acoustical engineer.

Alan Macaluso

Alan is a 25 year seasoned system administrator, network engineer and programmer responsible for creating development strategies, back-end applications, system management and editorial tools and security policies for companies and institutions including Orbitz, Cablevision, Daimler-Chrysler, Univision OnlineReuters Health InformationGTE Labs/VerizonThe Thomas Register and New York University.

Alan’s interest and experience in Internet-based Information technology is broad. In 1994, during his tenure at New York University‘s Center for Neural Science, Alan initiated the development of a standards based job requisition, assignment and tracking application for management of an interdepartmental Electronics, Computer and Mechanical support services group. Afterwards in 1995, as a consultant he merged his interests by providing programming and IT support for a dynamic live content (listings, reports, photos, music) distribution system for the 1st ever live Macintosh NYC Music Festival. For Reuters Health Information, he expanded and improved the company’s networking, security and web-based services, broadened the Reuters Medical newswire and dynamically integrated them with a dynamic drug database, created custom profiling mechanisms, oversaw the establishment of automated website traffic analysis application. As founder and CTO of Media Technica, Inc. — an Internet technology software, infrastructure, security, deployment and support services company — Alan was responsible for landing and deploying two key programming contracts: GTE Labs/Verizon (Superpages White/Yellow page search and interface programming) and The Thomas Register (programming web GUI-based management tools for B2B/B2C).

Alan studied computer science at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University. He also has advanced training in internet/intranet security and application server architecture, management and deployment. A graduate of DeVry Technical College , Alan is also a trained electronics engineering technician. Alan is an avid musician and martial artist.

Michael Wilcock

Michael  is an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician, musician and deejay. His Apple usage started with an Apple IIc back in 1984 and continues today with digital deejaying, music recording/production and other various geekery.

As a devoted Mac user, Michael enjoys troubleshooting issues with customers on the Mac OS, applications, and hardware configurations and sharing the excitement of the Mac user experience.

Tech Smiths is excited to expand their “tech force” with Michael as their first non-twin Apple Certified Maintenance Tech.

 

 

 

Luke Hally

Luke is an Apple Certified Macintosh Technician, avid skateboarder, and semi professional photographer.  He also has a degree in Network Administration from OCCC.

He has done freelance Network Admin and small business IT before joining Tech Smiths.

He really enjoys tinkering and getting under the hood of any computer.

Tech Smiths is “super stoked” to have Luke on the team.
